The BitterSweet Collection

The BitterSweet Collection:

Recognition of both Grief & Joy existing at the same time. I've been quietly working on this collection for over a year. It's a reflection of co-existing joy & lament.

The earth tones & grit represent the grief & pain of life while also being shaped into dynamic compositions. The artwork represents an acceptance of life's heartache while recognizing that beauty can still emerge from it.

I seek to find acceptance of both the current painful state co-existing with joy, as well as recognition of a truly compassionate higher power & future peace to come.

 

Artistic Expression:

A visual language for expressing emotions beyond words. The colors and images in Samantha's mind are often influenced by both nature and emotion. In the BitterSweet Collection she uses earthy, gritty mixed media to express emotional BitterSweetness of life. Earthy turmeric, paprika and natural amber shellac are both gritty and beautiful in their own right. Some colors communicate grief, while large expressive marks show energy and sometimes even joy. The ways in which Samantha moves the paint are both intuitive and planned, a combination of simultaneous control and spontaneity.
